Journeymen Lineworker Apprenticeship Program

At LUMA, we have an amazing and growing team of more than 3,000 employees. To help us better serve Puerto Rico and to build the workforce of the next generation, we are constantly recruiting and looking for the very best talent. That’s why we launched the first linework apprenticeship program in Puerto Rico in partnership with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 222 Union.

Offered at the LUMA College for Technical Training (LUMA College), this 7,000-hour apprenticeship program consists of module study and instructor-led classes, combined with 2,000 hours per year of on-the-job learning in transmission, overhead distribution and underground distribution. Participants who complete the training will be recognized as journey-level lineworkers by both the U.S. Department of Labor and the IBEW, which represents the highest title that a lineworker can achieve.
