At LUMA, our customers and communities are at the center of everything we do. We understand that with global instability, the rising cost of fuel, and the COVID-19 pandemic, paying electric utility bills can be difficult for some. And while we may not be able to stop or control the impact global events have on customer rates and bills, we are determined to help those who may be facing financial struggles. That is why we’ve taken several steps to help our customers come up with solutions either by working with them directly to develop payment plans or by actively promoting readily available assistance programs. To date, our efforts have resulted in over 10,000 payment arrangements for customers and more than 1,500,000 payments to households receiving assistance, totaling $75+ million, from the La Familia Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), the COVID Rental Assistance program and other programs to support people in need.
